Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
